This 13-Year Old Kid Built His Own House All By Himself!

It is quite fascinating to see how some people build their own house through their efforts. With given time, they could create the perfect home that suits their taste. However, it would amount with so much money that will be spent and hard labor just to build one. But a 13-year old kid, Luke Thill, from Dubuque, Iowa made a difference and proved that he could also build one.

During the length of the summer season, Luke decided to build a house for his own just to kill his boredom. Although it is a tough call, he asked for his dad to give him some financial assistance and lend him some cash. His father agreed to his plan and funded this project.

According to The Des Moines Register, Luke’s father, Greg, said that: “It was a chance for a kid to do something more than play video games or sports.”

He does a lot of part-time work so that he could also provide some extra money for this project. He did some fund-raising online and took some loans. With this, he took some errands with his neighbors who needed help and aid his friends in cleaning their garage.

For almost a year, he saved up to nearly $1,500 for all the materials. Almost all of his materials were just recycled which came from the house of his grandmother.

This kid also helped his neighbors get rid of their unwanted stuff, such as a family friend’s front door.

The project goes throughout the town which made them interested in his little house so he made a Youtube Channel where he could update others on his said project. This channel had gained 9,000 subscribers that are curious about this project.

After a while, a representative from TinyFest Midwest invited him to make a speech regarding this project and the problem he faced while building his tiny home.

The area of the constructed house was about 89-square-feet that stands 10 feet long and 5 ½ feet wide. He also tried to provide some liquid glaze and stained glass for its countertop yet he failed to do so. But still, he made a fine house that he worked for almost a year.

The house has a living room with a complete TV set and a couch. It also had a bed and even a kitchen with an electric griddle. Having such an incredible house makes it a great achievement for this 13-year-old boy!

The story of Luke’s project had gone viral in Ioea which had been featured in newspapers such as Des Moines Register and Telegraph Herald. His story came in touch with Derek Diedricksen who is an author that specializes in designing tiny homes which are also Luke’s inspiration.

Luke became an inspiration to anyone that wants to build tiny houses. He said to the Des Moines Register some meaningful quotes:

“Everyone had to have a big house, and now people have changed and realized it’s not practical.”

“You can save money, travel the world, and do what you want instead.”

He is one of the youngest inspirational motivators that you could ever see. What are your thoughts on Luke’s project? Share your thoughts on this article!
